Worcester Half marathon 2018
Very warm weather had an adverse effect on performance. Legs felt weak due to the heat throughout the entire distance. The best news is probably that I missed the cut off (by 4 minutes) at 11 miles so completed the half rather than full marathon. That's a laugh in itself - what's happening? The good news is that I think everyone was probably affected by the weather. The outright winning time for the marathon was 2:49 which is very slow and there were only a few sub 3 hour finishing times. Another plus is that there were only 8 entrants in my 65+ category and my finishing time is not far away from 6 of them. Actually at the time I felt quite dejected at such a poor performance time. Hopefully I'll have adjusted to the warmer weather by the time of the South Downs marathon.
